Downtown Disney Parking | Disney Springs Parking

Updated: 27 Aug 2013 06:24:15 AM

This past spring, Disney announced the largest-ever expansion to its popular dining/shopping complex Downtown Disney at Walt Disney World.

Disney Springs, a massive undertaking which will effectively double the shopping, dining, and entertainment options available to guests.

Scheduled to open in stages between now and 2016, Disney Springs is currently being constructed in the area now known as Pleasure Island and it's surrounding parking lots and will include some revamping of Downtown Disney's current Marketplace and West Side.

One of the larger features now underway is the erection of two parking garages, which, when complete, will hold around 6,000 vehicles.

While Disney Springs' construction should not interfere too much with a day at Downtown Disney, it will make parking a bit more difficult (as several parking lots are cordoned off to make room for the parking garages).

Parking Tips

Here are some tips to help you avoid massive crowds:

Visit Downtown Disney earlier in the day.

If you are planning to visit Downtown Disney primarily to shop or to spend a relaxing day away from the parks, consider visiting in the morning or early afternoon.

Crowds are much smaller during the day than they are at night, making it much easier to get the most out of your visit. Splitsville, DisneyQuest, and the shops will be much less crowded.

If you would like to visit at night, try to avoid Friday and Saturday evenings.

Fridays and Saturdays nights are the busiest with both vacationers and Orlando locals coming to Downtown Disney for a fun night out.

Park near Cirque du Soleil.

The parking lots to the West and North of the La Nouba theater are usually the least crowded.

Be Patient

Start your journey through Downtown Disney in the West Side, moving into the Marketplace.

Once you reach the end of the complex, catch a water ferry near the Rainforest Cafe and it will carry you back to the port in front of La Nouba!

Above all else, be patient and relax.

Finding a parking space on a crowded day might be tricky, but you shouldn't let it ruin your wonderful day at Downtown Disney.
