Things to do at Walt Disney World for Free

Walt Disney World is host to an endless number of attractions and activities, but a visit (or even just trying to find things to do between trips to the parks) can be expensive.

Downtown Disney has long been the destination for those wanting to enjoy some Disney magic without breaking the bank, but it is certainly not the only option!

Here are some of the best ways to spend time at Disney without spending a dime!

Moderate and Deluxe Walt Disney World resorts are first class when it comes to theming and relaxation, but many don’t know that some of that luxury can be enjoyed for free!

Most Disney resorts offer a free 3-hour parking pass to visitors so that resort restaurants and other amenities (including many freebies) can be enjoyed!

Most of the resorts feature stunning lobbies, incredible themed pools, and beautiful holiday decor in winter, views of Disney’s fireworks, and even free Disney movie screenings in the evening!

Disney’s BoardWalk Resort features nightly live entertainment, cheap eats and carnival games, and even free nightclubs, making it the perfect place to spend an inexpensive evening in Orlando.

Favorites to visit include the Grand Floridian, Contemporary, and Polynesian, all of which can be reached via Monorail (also free); the Wilderness Lodge, which offers a stunning lobby, nature trails, and active geyser; and Animal Kingdom Lodge, which not only features beautiful African artifacts in its lobby, but has some of the best freebies of any Disney resort, including...

Free Animals

Animal Kingdom Lodge is famous for the glorious savannah that wraps around the back of the hotel. By simply parking at the resort, you can enjoy the sights and sounds of this savannah for free! The best time to spot animals is at dusk and a visit will most likely include sightings of zebras, ostriches, giraffes, and much more!

After checking out the animals, enjoy s’mores around a campfire, held nightly, also free of charge.

Free Fireworks

Fireworks are a nightly Disney favorite and can be enjoyed from a number of different free locations throughout the property. Magic Kingdom’s Wishes Fireworks can be enjoyed from the Contemporary Resort’s observation deck, the Grand Floridian’s boat dock, and even onboard the Monorail!

The perennial favorite and most romantic, however, is the Polynesian’s beach where you will be able to enjoy both Wishes and the Electrical Water Pageant for free!

The beach even has speakers to pipe in the show’s music!

Free Firehouse Tour

Disney’s Fire Department (Reedy Creek) offers free tours Monday through Friday.

Tour times are 9am-11am and 1pm-4pm.

No appointments needed.

Fire station tours are at station 1 (The Dalmatian Station) & station 4 (The Hat and Hose).
